Interesting, persuasive writing is the heart of First Call. While other campus publications focus on news, we publish commentary, poetry, fiction and cultural pieces. We give you the freedom to write what you want, and we don't shy away from printing what some may consider controversial. If any of the following statements describe you, you should consider writing for First Call:
- You're opinionated.
- You can translate the taste of a filet mignon, the sound of James Brown's voice, or the suspense of an M. Night Shyamalan flick into words.
- You love the thrill of investigative reporting, and you want the freedom to explore a topic of your choice for a month or two before publishing.
- You enjoy reading publications like The Economist, The National Review, The New Republic, The New Yorker, and Slate.
- You write poetry or fiction.
